How do peels work?
Chemical peels are generally based on acids.
They gently assist in the desquamation of the outer layers of the skin to deliver a smoother surface, while also stimulating the skin’s deeper layers to stimulate collagen production, inhibit tyrosinase activity to reduce hyperpigmentation as well as increase hyaluronic acid production and moisture retention to plump the skin and boost hydration.
Peels are particularly helpful at decongesting pores and reducing break outs through the removal of intrafollicular debris, while simultaneously easing the signs of inflammation.
Chemical peels are not recommended in pregnancy.
How do I prepare my skin for a peel?
It is necessary to prepare the skin with Synergie Skincare for 2 weeks prior to treatment. This helps to remove dead skin cells and strengthens the skin, in turn decreasing healing time and improving results.
It is also important to minimise sun exposure for 2 weeks prior to treatment and will reduce the risks of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Your Fitzpatrick Skin Type will also be assessed prior to any treatment ensure compatabiity.
How many peels will I need?
A minimum of 4 to 6 fortnightly peel treatments is recommended for optimal results.
What can I expect after my treatment?
After your treatment, your skin may feel mildly red and inflamed. Dryness and mild discomfort sometimes follow and are eased with appropriate post treatment skin care.
What do I use on my skin post-treatment?
Strict adherence to the post-peel sun protection and home care instructions is important.
With some peels, water and water-based products must not be applied to the skin for 8 hours, as this may reactivate the peel solution.
